Minutes May 26, 1999 A special meeting was held on May 26, l999 at the Genoa Firehouse, for the purpose of considering the bid for the salt storage building. Officers present: Supervisor Pecher; Council members John Myers, Ken Patchen, Max Smith, Lorie Fessenden; Clerk Pat Burgman; Highway Superintendent Dave Powers. Guests: Gene Reynolds, Don Potter. The meeting came to order at 8:15 p.m., with the Pledge to the Flag. After consideration of the presented bid documents, a decision was reached on the salt storage building. Dave Powers had talked with Murphy Bros, Tim Sick and Dana Tyrrell. Dave recommends that we go with the bid that was presented, while realizing it's over budget. If we did re-bid, time and additional funds will be expended with no assurance that the bid would be any less. Discussion. An additional $l5000 can be broken out of the budget to cover this, Hans says. Accordingly, John Myers made the motion to increase the building fund Al620.22 by $15000 by reducing A8160.2 by $9000 and A1990.4 by $6000. Second was by Max Smith. 5 Aye votes. There is the possibility of effecting a change order to the contract to reduce the wallheight by 6", which would save some money. The bid itself was approved on a motion by Ken Patchen, second by Smith. 5 Aye votes. The Board then completed a short form Environmental Inpact Assessment for this building construction. It was determined that no adverse impact will result from this new construction. The motion for approval of the statement and to authorize the Supervisor to sign the document was made by Lorie Fessenden; second by Smith; 5 Aye votes. A proposal had been received from Tom Begley and Eric Hanson (hydrogeologists) for study and location of sites for a new water source within the town - Dave Reeves and Hans met with the men. Such a source if found, is not meant to supplant the ongoing study for a water study in the south end of the county, but if found, would add to current supplies to help the shortfall more immediately. This would give us more time for the comprehensive solution we are seeking. The basic study was quoted to the town at $750, then forward thru other steps as We choose. Patchen motioned we accept Phase 1 of the study for $750; second by Fessenden; 5 Aye votes. Don Potter, who is our local person on water supply, agrees to make contact with Bolton Point near Ithaca, once again to determine the current climate there. To see if they are now receptive to working with the Town of Genoa again to help solve the long range water supply problems. There being no further business, motion for adjournment was made by Smith at 9:20 p.m. Second by Patchen; 5 Aye votes. |
